Kelsey Helm is the “Theatrical” of State of the Wall and the narrative architect behind the brand’s curation framework. Before co-founding State of the Wall, Kelsey’s work at The Walt Disney Company focused on narrative storytelling and immersive environments, the discipline of building rooms that hold a story rather than simply decorate a wall.

At State of the Wall, Kelsey directs the brand’s narrative strategy and the framework that decides which patterns enter the catalog. Every Movement we release runs through her Gut Check criteria: Portal, Movement, Essential, Connection. A pattern earns a place in the catalog only when it carries all four.

Professional Areas of Expertise & Responsibilities:

  • Narrative Curation: Kelsey oversees the editorial framework that decides which patterns become part of a Movement. Her background in theatrical narrative gives her a sharp eye for the emotional through-line a pattern carries before it ever reaches a wall.
  • Brand Voice and Story: She is the architect of the brand’s “Story + Care = Belonging” thesis, shaping how every collection launch, lookbook, and customer touchpoint reads.
  • Cultural Programming: Kelsey leads the editorial side of our “Canvas for Culture” initiative, partnering with libraries, indie bookstores, and community spaces to identify the next Third Place to revitalize.
  • Pattern Direction: She works directly with our artist commissions to make sure the visual language of each design matches the narrative intent of the Movement it belongs to.

Reilly Renwick, CMO

Reilly Renwick is the "Nester"—the operational anchor and empathetic strategist of State of the Wall. Reilly’s expertise lies in Intentional Scarcity and the Architecture of Belonging. His work is defined by the belief that a physical environment is a vital "connective tissue" that determines the health of a community.

Reilly translates complex cultural data into intimate human experiences. He oversees the brand’s five-Collection model, ensuring that every pattern earns its place through a rigorous evaluation for emotional resonance, cultural truth, and essentialism.

Professional Areas of Expertise & Responsibilities:

  • Executive Brand Stewardship: Reilly serves as the guardian of the brand’s "Nester" DNA, managing the synthesis of Story + Care. He is responsible for ensuring that every touchpoint—from artist commissions to the final installation—reflects an intentional act of sanctuary-building.
  • Strategic Product Curation: He directs the lifecycle of our "Movements," utilizing broad analytical insights from our subsidiary pattern archive to identify emotional voids in the modern market and commissioning artists to create designs that address those missing social truths.
  • Social Mission & Public Architecture: Reilly leads the brand’s CSR initiatives, specifically the "Canvas for Culture" program. He spearheads the revitalization of "Third Places"—directing resources to transform public libraries and independent bookstores into vibrant, dignified hubs for social interaction.
  • Experience Design Philosophy: An expert in the "Ritual of the Pause," Reilly advocates for a "slow design" movement. His management style focuses on Resonance-Based Output, prioritizing the long-term cultural impact of a design over short-term sales volume.
